Obituary of Helen Purvis

Helen Purvis

November 23, 1938 ~ October 7, 2017

 

Helen Purvis, 78, Marion, died at 8:23 p.m. on Saturday, October 7, 2017 in her home. She was born on November 23, 1938, in Marion, Indiana to the late William and Helen Delcenia (Shafer) Purvis and was a graduate of Roll High School.

 

Helen retired from the Area 6 Counsel on Aging and was a waitress at Pizza Hut for several years. She was a member of the Herbst United Methodist Church. Helen liked gardening, cooking, listening to country music, reading and telling childhood stories.

 

She is survived by four daughters, Rhonda Purvis, Karla Tamokle, Lynn Garcia and Lisa; grandchildren, Juan Purvis, Querida Alcorta, Marianita Alcorta, Enrique Alcorta, Larry Garcia, Michelle Morris, Renea Morris, William Garcia, Shannon Bosworth, Anthony, Allen, Rafdlito Alcorta, and Stephon Joseph; great-grandchildren, Trevas Smith, Tereza Smith, Malihah Alcorta, Little Letto Alcorta, and Little Juan; siblings, "Mo", Dixie Benfield, and Ruth Sheward; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

 

In addition to her parents, Helen was preceded in death by her son, Frank Garcia and twelve brothers and sisters.

 

The family will receive visitors from 11-1 p.m. on Friday, October 13, 2017 at Integrity Funeral Care, 2901 S. Washington St, Marion, IN. A funeral service for Helen will begin immediately following visitation at 1 p.m. with Pastor Mick Simpkins officiating. Burial will be at Grant Memorial Park, Marion.
